"Hi my name is Zachary and I want to tell you about my Mighty hands. They are only 4 1/2 years old, but they hold a great tale.
I was born with Syndactyly. It can either be a birth defect or a genetic trait and range in Severity's. Since mine is/was symmetrical, It is genetic. My three fingers on each hand and two middle toes on each foot were conjoined. The right hand was more severe than the left.
Two fingers had a bone fused together making surgery more difficult. During surgery the Doctor took skin from my inner elbow on each arm to use as skin grafts for in between my newly separated fingers."
"I was 10 months old for my FIRST round of Surgery in Aug 2014. They had to do my hands in two phases. They did both hands at the same time, but they separated the pinkies and let those heal for 6 months.
Then they separated my ring finger from the middle finger. They took skin grafts from the same place each time. After every procedure, I was in casts first, then in braces, and then the doctors would finally take the stitches out.
I didn't have to do any physical therapy to work my fingers. My parents helped me with stretching and massaging the scar tissue. My fingers still don't go all the way straight, but they have full function.
I am 4 1/2 years old now and have great movement in both of my hands."
Zachary is a walking miracle like in the New Testament.
In Luke 6:10
" And looking round about them all, he said unto the man, stretch for thy hand. And he did so; and his hand was restored whole as the other."
Even though the man in the scripture needed on hand healed, to me; Zach is an example of strength to have BOTH hands healed. His parents; Dan and Natalie (my brother in law and sister) dedicated their time to what Zach needed to rebuild his hands with the Help of the Lord and the Doctors.
It is so incredible to me that through Faith, Trust and Prayer, doctors can do great things (which are miracles in of themselves ), Like when Christ was here on the Earth and performed many Miracles.
Zachary is a love able little man. He can put a smile on your face INSTANTLY. He has his own little charm, and has touched so many hearts. I hope we can use our Mighty Hands to lift and touch other peoples hearts.
Don't take for granted what you can do and what you have to offer. Every little bit helps and is a miracle in someone else's eyes.
